Crack/Reset grub password

Weird, is it that simple to hack grub? I think there might be something wrong here, it can't be that simple.

Generally speaking, if a hacker has physical access to your computer/server there is nothing that can really stop him/her.

That's pretty much it. If your machine crashes or has other problems, you would want to be able to gain access to it, via standard means, boot from cd, etc., these are the same methods any hacker would employ if they gained physical access to the server. Pretty much, if they have physical access, the rest of it really doesn't matter. So, security involves multiple layers, from network security through firewalls, secure passwords, application and OS patches an system "hardening", as well as physical access through secure server rooms, etc.

The large facilities that I've worked in, you've always needed some type of card access to get into the data center. Then, of course, if it were a server farm, you'd only have access to your racks and not someone elses. I've worked at large companies where this kind of security was considered pretty darn serious.
