Default Streaming Media to xBox 360

Is there any way to stream media to the xbox 360? From what I've read Microsoft has really screwed Linux Users and you can only stream from the Windows Media Server Edition of Windows. On top of that, you can only stream WMV files!!!

The only solution that I have been able to find is running windows in a vmWare session and then run TVersity (which is kind of flaky):

I also tried twonkeyvision but it only supports the standard wmv and mpeg - no transcoding.

Anyone have another solution?

xbox now supports .mov. I've been converting my movies to .mov format and then piping them to my xbox.
