I've created a 20Gb partition on my Laptop using partition magic. Now I plan on installing a flavor of Linux on that partition and booting to it while not working. My question is what Linux flavors work on laptops?
I have a DELL D620. |

I have Linux on my laptop and Mythbuntu on my desktop. Personally if you want to configure everything yourself go with Ubuntu.
If you want it to work out of the box then visit LinuxMintand give them a try. The Dist. is free and overall it just works. |

It does work on my laptop out of the box. However Flash and several codecs are limited as they don't or won't step on toes with free distribution and proprietary dist. software.
Mint is highly compatible with Ubuntu and just about everything works right with the LiveCD. Just my opinion. |

If you managed to get flash to install and run with Ubuntu you managed to get further than I did and yes it does totally blow.
Stick with Mint and it won't lead you wrong. As far as the other distro's I am not really sure if they have the same issues or not. |
