Default Standby?

Is it possible to have the standby/sleep mode that is in windows, in linux? What are the commands to do this?

I don't believe there is a stand-by mode in Linux. You can control your power settings in the KDE Control Center (since you are using Sabayon). You can also calm your HD down using hdparm.

Well, I did find a command to get it into standby mode... but then when I wake it up, it just gives a blank screen. I don't know why!!

and after that i didnt used that commanad and also suggest yoy to not use that command..!!
