How can I play .MOV files on Linux? Right now I get an error that this type can't be played.

Check out the quicktime for Linux project: Heroine Virtual: Quicktime 4 Linux
You can also do it with MPlayer: MPlayer - The Movie Player

Yes, I use that on Windows.. plays everything without the need of installing other codecs etc...
