I generally download most of the movies I have (or rent them online). What I would like to do is watch them on my big 50" TV but I still would like to get them via my computer. Is there any software that can pipe movies from my Linux box to my TV? Do I need some more hardware in between these two devices?

You need some hardware in between your computer and TV (which hooks up to a network) unless you get a video out card and hook your PC directly to your TV. You could use an old Linux box for this purpose fairly easy.
Here is an example of commercial hardware: http://www.sonystyle.com/webapp/wcs/...rp_hes_gglsrch I use my xBox 360 as one of those. Its works great. |

As Jordan mentioned an Xbox 360 would definitely work since it can hook up to your PC; it's also more portable and you may find it more convenient.
