Default Building your own computer for Linux

If you had to build your own computer for Linux what would your stats be or brand?

I like Dell computers. They seem to run Linux well. I would go with ATI video card because it is well supported. I would also go with 4 gigs of ram and 200gb HD (10,000 RPM).

Those specs seem good to me too, should work fine.

Dell actually has a line of computers that come with Linux installed. At my job we only use Dell so I have tested Linux on a lot of them and they generally work well.

I agree with Wanch. No matter how bad a computer is, it's usually able to run Linux. I've a computer with 64mb ram and 20gb, and it runs Linux like a dream.

GNU/Linux Debian and GNOME as desktop environment. GNOME has heavy graphics, but it was able to run it pretty smoothly anyway. I recently changed to Wmii though, which makes it much faster.

Dell definitely has good prebuilt PC options that have Ubuntu Linux operating systems already installed, but the specs really aren't that great for its price..

I would build my own, with an Intel Quad Core Q6600 processor, 4GB DDR2-1000mhz RAM, 2x 300GB 10krpm HDD...ahh, that sounds fine for now.
